Kefir Flatbread: Simple Skillet Bread
Baking bread couldn’t be easier. For this kefir flatbread, you don’t need an oven, yeast, or any long rising time. Simply knead all the ingredients for the dough, shape it, and bake it in a skillet. That’s it.
Our kefir flatbread is very versatile. For example, you can serve it as a side dish with grilled food or fresh salads. It also tastes great with dishes, like curries for example. And of course, you can also dip it in your favorite dips like our strawberry chutney. This kefir flatbread plays so well with so many different dishes and so easy to make, you’ll find that once you start making it, you can’t stop.
But how to make it? Let’s walk you through the steps. In a bowl, simply mix flour, baking powder, and salt together. Then add the oil and kefir and knead all the ingredients into a smooth dough. The kefir ensures that the bread rises well, becomes fluffy, and has a slightly tangy note. Divide the finished dough into four equal portions, roll each into a ball, and then roll them out on a work surface to about ⅛ inch thick flatbreads.
Place them individually in a skillet with heated oil, where you bake them for two to three minutes per side, until the dough puffs up. Now all that’s left is to sprinkle your flatbreads with a bit of chopped parsley, enjoy! Tip: Drizzle a little garlic oil over the flatbreads for an even more intense flavor.
