Cookout season is in full swing, and the aroma of delicious food is everywhere. Of course, there are certain dishes that we can look forward to each year. Standard hotdogs, hamburgers, and corn on the cob, are, of course, expected. But, today we are suggesting you bring something new to the table, such as our grilled watermelon with feta.
Grilled Watermelon with Feta
Over the last couple of summers, watermelon and feta have become an odd-couple that seem to have enchanted the nation as a whole. While at first blush a strange pairing, it only takes one taste to really appreciate the genius of it all. Watermelon is, of course, at its best, fresh enough to break up the heat of any sweltering summer day. Feta is tangy and slightly briny, which underlines the slight sweetness of the watermelon. Together, the two ingredients really bring out the magic in each other.
Plus, preparing our grilled watermelon with feta is as simple as it can be. Take a watermelon and cut it into wedges. Now, from the individual wedges, cut off slices of approximately the same thickness. You should have now, watermelon triangles that are now grill-ready.
Before adding them to the grill, you can brush the watermelon slices with just a bit of oil beforehand, but this is certainly not necessary. After just under ten minutes, your grilled watermelon is ready, and you can serve it together with the feta. Alternatively, you can season the grilled watermelon with a little salt, or sea salt, and enjoy it as is. Whether you’re looking for a fancy snack for your next barbecue or are just curious about this flavor combination, this simple and quick recipe for grilled watermelon will delight you.
