Greek Gyro Potato Casserole

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb pork preferably pork shoulder
  • 2 tbsp gyro seasoning
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 2 lb potatoes e.g., Yukon Gold
  • butter for greasing the pan
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • cup sour cream
  • ½ cup vegetable broth
  • 1⅓ cups gouda cheese shredded
  • cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • salt & pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Cut the meat into thin strips, mix with the gyro seasoning and then fry in a hot pan with a dash of oil until cooked through.
  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices.
  • Grease a casserole dish with butter and layer potatoes and meat alternately. Season the individual layers lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Mix heavy cream, sour cream, and vegetable broth into a creamy sauce and pour it over the casserole.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the casserole.
  • Bake the casserole for about 40 minutes, or until the potatoes are cooked through and the cheese is golden brown.
