Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing bowls
  • Oven rack

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • dried bread (for breadcrumbs)

Instructions

  • Peel the onion, cut it into slices and separate the slices into rings.
  • For the batter, crack the egg into a bowl, add the milk, and beat together. Afterwards, add the paprika powder, salt, and flour. Mix well.
  • To make the breadcrumbs, simply put some dried bread of your choice into a mixer. If the bread is not hard enough, try leaving it to sit on the counter for 24 hours.
  • Prepare three bowls: one containing the egg batter, one the bread crumbs, and the last one some extra flour. The onion rings should be dipped in the following order: first in flour, then egg, and finally breadcrumbs.
  • Place your dipped rings on an oven rack and bake for 10-12 minutes at 430 °F.
