For the dough, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the lukewarm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix the flour with the salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and knead everything into a smooth dough.
Cover the dough and let it rise for 2 hours.
As the bread rises, you can make the herb butter. Start by peeling and pressing the garlic. Rinse the herbs, shake them dry, and chop them.
Mix the ingredients with the softened butter and season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate.
After the resting time has passed, divide the dough into two equal portions. Using floured hands, shape the dough into baguettes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Carefully cut the surface of the baguettes diagonally several times with a knife and bake in a preheated oven at 450°F for 20 minutes.
Remove the baguettes from the oven and cut the cold butter into pieces. Insert a piece of herb butter into each of the previously made cuts and return the baguettes to the oven for another 5 minutes. The butter should be melted and the baguettes crispy. Serve warm.
