Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Piping bag with star tip
  • Pot

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1.25 cups hot milk
  • 5 oz chocolate
  • 1 tbsp corn starch optional
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon optional
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper optional
  • 2 bananas
  • 4 popsicle sticks

Instructions

  • Add the water, salt, sugar, and butter to a saucepan and let it come to a boil briefly. Sieve the flour into a separate bowl and then add it to the mixture in the saucepan. Whisk everything together over low heat until the dough starts to form lumps and comes off the walls of the pan. Remove the saucepan from the heat, transfer the dough into a bowl, and let it cool for a couple of minutes, then add an egg and work it into the dough. Spoon the dough into a piping bag with a star tip.
  • Peel the bananas and divide them into two equal pieces. Stick one popsicle stick each into the cut side of the banana piece.
  • Heat some oil in a pot to about 350°F. Pipe the dough all around the bananas until they're completely covered, then fry the banana churros in the oil.
  • Add the chocolate to hot milk and let the chocolate melt. The chocolate sauce tastes even better when you add some corn starch, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper.
  • Roll the fried banana churros in cinnamon and sugar and then dip them in the chocolate sauce.
