Equipment

  • silicone heart mold
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup water
  • 18 gelatin sheets gelatin sheets (or 6 tbsp unflavored gelatin powder)
  • 3 1/3 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 package raspberry gelatin powder prepare according to instructions on package
  • vanilla sauce

Instructions

  • If you're using gelatin sheets, first soak them in water. Then bring a pot of water to boil and dissolve the soaked gelatin sheets or unflavored gelatin powder in the water. Combine the 3 types of milk and gradually stir the mixture into the dissolved gelatin. Grease the silicone heart mold and pour in half of the white jello mixture. Refrigerate the mold for about 2 hours until the jello has set completely. Tip: If you see a lot of bubbles form while you're stirring the mixture, you can use a slotted spoon to remove them.
  • Once the white jello has set, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out hearts and carefully remove them from the mold with a fork.
  • Prepare the raspberry jello according to the instructions on the package, adding more sugar if you'd like a sweeter treat. Pour as much of the red jello mixture into the silicone mold until the red layer is about as thick as the white layer. Refrigerate the mold for about 90 minutes until the jello has set completely. Tip: It's best not to pour the jello mixture directly into the mold, but rather over the curved side of a spoon to prevent bubbles from forming. It also prevents the different layers from mixing.
  • Pour the rest of the white jello mixture over the red jello layer and refrigerate for another 90 minutes until it has set. Tip: If the white jello mixture isn't liquid enough anymore, reheat it while stirring.
  • Pour the rest of the red jello mixture into the mold and refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
  • Use a small knife to carefully remove the jello from the edges of the mold. Place your cute raspberry jello heart on a nice platter and serve with vanilla sauce.
