Beef and potatoes are absolute dinner staples, and for good reason! Throw some gravy into the mix and you've got yourself the most popular recipes in classic home cooking. But instead of serving them next to each other on the dinner plate, go ahead and cook them together in an eye-catching casserole dish. Yummy!
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the potatoes and set them aside. Chop the onion finely.
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, parsley, chopped onion, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into small meatballs.
In a casserole dish, layer the sliced potatoes and meatballs. Set aside.
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir to form a roux. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
Pour the sauce over the layered potatoes and meatballs. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle with shredded cheese, and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
