Christmas Tree Cupcakes

- Icing bag with star-shaped nozzle

Ingredients
- 3.5 oz flour
- 2 oz soft butter
- 2.5 oz sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 4.5 oz butter
- 4.5 oz powdered sugar
- 5.5 oz cream cheese
- green food coloring
- 6 ice cream cones
- silver sugar balls
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients for the cupcakes in a bowl and beat them into a batter with an electric whisk. Divide the mixture between six cupcake cases set in a cupcake baking tray, so they do not lose their shape. Bake the cakes for 20 minutes at 325°F in a convection oven.
- To prepare the buttercream, beat the butter with an electric whisk until it's fluffy, then add the powdered sugar while continuing to stir. Finally, mix in the cream cheese. Remove six tablespoons of the cream from the bowl. Color the rest with green food coloring until the color reaches the intensity you are aiming for.
- Spread the white butter cream over the now-cooled down cakes. Place a waffle ice cream cone on top of each one, with the tip pointing upwards. Paint the sides of the cones with green buttercream. Put the rest of the buttercream in an icing bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle. Working from the bottom to the top, squirt dabs of cream in rows around the ice cream cones. Then you can decorate your Christmas trees as you like with silver sugar balls. Using tweezers makes it easier to set them in place.

They might not look like the easiest cakes to eat, but given how good they look, it's easy to forgive that. The best way to proceed is to fell the tree first, before getting to the tasty chocolate cake underneath. And as well as enjoying them by themselves, these cupcakes can also be used to place every other cake in a winter landscape. Make an edible forest!
