Buttercream Cake with Chocolate Lace Decoration

Ingredients
  

  • several cake layers (homemade or store-bought)
  • buttercream
  • melted chocolate

Instructions
 

  • Place your cake layers one on top of the other. Between each, smear a nice thick layer of buttercream, which tastes amazing but also holds them together. Then spread buttercream evenly over the entire cake and refrigerate (or put in the freezer). This helps the buttercream not to smear when you apply the chocolate lace.
  • Trim down a strip of baking parchment to about 1.5 inches higher than the cake. Cut one long side with a jagged edge.
  • Pour the melted chocolate into the icing bag and, with quick movements, draw onto the parchment lots of chocolate circles and ovals entwined around each other.
  • As soon as the chocolate is dry, gently place the parchment with the chocolate side against the cake, jagged side up. Press the chocolate into the cream, which functions like tape. And then remove the parchment paper.
