A few days ago we celebrated World Nutella Day. But, because we love the chocolate hazelnut spread, it’s kind of always World Nutella Day for us. If we’re not eating it for breakfast, we’re enjoying it as a delicious Nutella cake. Check the recipe!

A Quick Recipe for Our Delicious Nutella Cake

The popular spread originally comes from Italy. There, the Ferrero company invented the first version of today’s spread in the 1940s. At that time, chocolate was scarce, which is why hazelnuts from Piedmont served as the main ingredient.

The ingredient list for our Nutella cake is manageable, but that’s what makes it so special. The Nutella itself brings a lot of flavor, so it only needs a few other ingredients. Flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder and baking soda form the base, butter and buttermilk provide the perfect consistency. A touch of vanilla and ground hazelnuts round it all off and enhance the chocolatey note.

You can hardly go wrong with the preparation. Have all the ingredients ready and mix them together. Start with the butter and sugar, beating both until fluffy. Then stir in the eggs and vanilla extract as well as the Nutella.

Then mix the dry ingredients and mix them together with the buttermilk and the egg cream. Now you can pour the batter into the pan and bake it in the oven. The Nutella cake is decorated with chocolate icing and the eponymous chocolate cream as well as grated chocolate or colorful sprinkles.

Its irresistible aroma makes it a true classic. Once you’ve tried it, you’ll quickly understand why it has so many fans. So grab your mixing bowl and enjoy this chocolatey treat!
