Sticky, savory, juicy: If that’s not the description for perfect chicken wings! And this recipe for honey garlic chicken guarantees you just that. They are perfect as finger food for a party or taste great with a salad as a light dinner. See for yourself and follow our simple recipe!

How to Make Our Honey Garlic Chicken

The combination of garlic and honey is one that has already achieved true cult status. No wonder, roasted garlic with its light caramel notes simply goes perfectly with sweet honey. At the same time, the onion brings a hearty umami note into play which makes it perfect for juicy chicken wings.

This flavor combination makes honey garlic chicken a dish you’ll want to eat again and again. What’s more, the preparation is really simple, because the oven does most of the work. Season the chicken wings with salt and pepper and then toss them in oil and cornstarch to make them extra crispy. While the chicken is simmering in the oven, prepare the sauce. For this you need honey, finely chopped garlic, soy sauce, some vinegar (preferably rice or apple cider vinegar) and a splash of water. Sauté the garlic until it browns slightly, deglaze with soy sauce and add the remaining ingredients. Simmer everything for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.

Now the chicken wings should also be slowly cooked. Place them in a bowl and immediately pour the hot sauce over them. Toss well so that they are completely coated and serve the honey garlic chicken immediately. A yogurt-based dip goes just as well with this as some raw vegetables. Celery sticks are particularly popular, believe it or not.

Serve it as finger food at your next party or with the game! It’s best to have some paper towels ready right away, or enjoy honey garlic chicken as a quick weeknight dinner when you don’t feel like cooking much.
