A Romantic Breakfast: Cherry & Chocolate Overnight Oats
It doesn’t need to be Valentine’s Day to have a little romance to your day! Even if it’s just for yourself, especially if it’s just for yourself. This breakfast is the perfect gift on those mornings where the last thing you want to think about is breakfast, and when it feels like the to-do list has already reached to the end of the day. When you need a quick dish, our cherry and chocolate overnight oats have got your back, and what’s more they’ll add some indulgence and beauty too.
Overnight oats are rolled oats that are prepared the night before and left to soak in the fridge overnight. They’re no-cook, as the long-soaking will create your oatmeal slowly over the course of the night. The result is an especially creamy oatmeal that can be adjusted and adapted as desired. Today, we reached for canned cherries and chopped chocolate. We suggest you do too!
First, mix the rolled oats with milk and Greek yogurt. Next, you’ll whip up a quick cherry compote. Simply heat the cherries in a saucepan over medium heat. You will want to thicken it with a bit of cornstarch (for more detailed instructions, read below!). Finally, refine it with a pinch of cinnamon and some sugar. Alternate layers of oats and compote between four glasses. Finally, refrigerate your oats for at least an hour, but preferably overnight. Once they’re ready and you take your first bite, you’ll realize that with this dish, you’ll see it tastes just as good as it sounds! Enjoy!
