Recipe For Your Next BBQ: Our Apple-Chicken Skewers
Have you ever brought sweet and savory to the grill? If not, you’re missing out. But don’t worry; it’s never too late. Our chicken-apple skewers are the perfect place to start! They’re refreshing and refined and truly highlight just how versatile both apple and chicken can be.
Making these beauties require having a few ingredients on hand. Start by grabbing a fresh chicken fillet and two tart apples, Granny Smith should do just fine. You will also need some Calvados apple brandy, oil, salt and pepper, thyme, and garlic. Once you have everything, prep by first soaking the wooden skewers in water for at least ten minutes. This will keep them from burning on the grill later.
Now let’s get cooking. Cut the chicken into bite-sized cubes and mix up the marinade. To do so, combine oil, Calvados, minced garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, and chili powder in a bowl. Marinate the chicken cubes in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
Meanwhile wash and core the apples, then them into small pieces. Mix the remaining Calvados with some salt and brush the apples with it. Now alternately thread apple and chicken pieces onto the wooden skewers. Grill them for two to three minutes per side, or until golden brown. Finally, then serve the chicken-apple skewers with fresh bread and a dip. Now that’s some good eating!
No grill? No problem! You don’t have to miss out on these delicious skewers, you can easily pan-roast them on the stove instead.
