Craving strawberry cake but don’t want to wait forever for the pudding or cream to set? Then it’s time to bake a quick strawberry chocolate loaf cake. It’s in the oven in just 15 minutes and tastes moist, chocolatey, and fruity. Find out how to make this simple recipe below!
Our Strawberry Chocolate Loaf: Deliciously Divine
Strawberries and chocolate are a popular combination, and rightly so. The natural intense juiciness and sweetness of fresh strawberries harmonize absolutely perfectly with the slight bitter fruitiness of chocolate. There are just some things that are meant to be, and how great that we can enjoy them and in so many ways to enjoy. One such way is, of course, our strawberry chocolate loaf.
Making this cake is both simple and ingenious. You don’t need any fancy ingredients. Start with the cake: you’ll need to make a thick and moist chocolate batter. This is really the heart of the recipe. To make it, cream butter and sugar for a long time, then add eggs, flour and baking powder. For extra moisture, this recipe asks you to add a little melted dark chocolate to the fray.
Now the strawberries come into play. We really can’t get enough of these delectable fruits, although botanically speaking, they are actually nuts. A rose by any other name, after all! Strawberries provide the perfect visual and flavorful finish to the recipe, and you’ll not only decorate the finished cake with them, but also mix a few of finely chopped ones into the batter. If you want to make your cake extra sweet, soak the strawberries in a bit of sugar before incorporating them into the batter. Just make sure to drain them before adding, lest you water down the batter! But no worries, the remaining strawberry juice works really well in lemonade. Waste not want not, after all!
But we’re not out of the woods with our loaf yet, there’s just a few more steps. After baking, you’ll want to decorate the cake with a thin layer of chocolate. It not only adds a nice crispy texture, but will also help keep the strawberries in place. Once loaf is properly coated, garnish with a few mint leaves, these provide an exciting splash of color and a little extra flavor. Win-win! Now pat yourself on the back, your loaf is ready and you can dig in!
