1. Spicy Mac & Cheese Donut

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Inactive Time: 1 hour
Difficulty Level: Easy

You'll Need:

  • 5 oz elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 1⅓ cups milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ¾ cup shredded cheddar
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp sliced jalapeños
  • 1 egg
  • flour + whisked eggs + bread crumbs for the breading
  • cooking oil for frying

Here's How:

1.1 For the mac & cheese, heat the cooked elbow macaroni, milk, butter, and shredded cheddar cheese in a large pot on the stove. Bring the sauce to a boil and let everything cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, then season the mac & cheese with salt & pepper. Transfer the mac & cheese to the refrigerator and let it cool completely. Once the mac & cheese has cooled, fold in the sliced jalapeños and egg. Place a tall shot glass in the center of 4-inch glass bowl, then spoon the spicy mac & cheese into the glass bowl, making a ring around the tall shot glass that's about 1 inch high. Transfer the glass bowl to the freezer and freeze for 1 hour.

1.2 Fill separate bowls with whisked egg, flour, and bread crumbs for the breading station and heat a pot filled with cooking oil to 300°F. Remove the spicy mac & cheese donut from the freezer, cover it in flour, dredge it in egg wash, and coat it in bread crumbs. Fry the spicy mac & cheese donut in hot cooking oil until golden brown.
