3 Ways To Make Tasty Pasta Donuts Fresh Out The Oven

What's your favorite donut? Do you like yours filled with jelly or chocolate? Or do you prefer these fried sweet treats to have a hole in the middle? Today, we're actually going to take a step away from these conventional style donuts and reach for the pasta instead. Yep, you heard right — Pasta Donuts are the latest novelty food sensation!

Version 1: Pomodoro Donut

You'll need:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped up
  • 1 tsp rosemary, chopped up
  • 2 oz red and yellow cherry tomatoes, cut into four
  • 5 fl oz tomato sauce
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 oz parmesan
  • 9 oz cooked spaghetti

Here's how:

  1. First place a glass pan (or alternatively a normal pan) on the stove, pour in some olive oil, and heat it up.

Next, fry the garlic and rosemary before adding the tomatoes and tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper before leaving the sauce to cook.

Break and egg into the pan and grate some parmesan on top. Carefully stir everything together.

To finish, fold the mixture into the pasta.

2. Now it's time to make the donut. Place an egg cup upside-down in a medium-sized bowl and place the pasta around it.

3. Now bake everything in the oven at 350°F for 20 minutes.

Before serving, remove the egg cup and place the donut on a plate.

Version 2: Carbonara Donut

You'll need:

  • oil for frying
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 3 oz bacon, cut into slices
  • 7 fl oz cream
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 9 oz cooked spaghetti

Here's how:

1. First, fry the onion in some oil and then cook the bacon for a short while. Next, add the cream, season with salt and pepper, and leave the mixture to simmer.

Take the pan off the heat and leave to the carbonara sauce to cool.

Fold in an egg and stir the sauce into the cooked pasta.

2. Follow Steps 2 and 3 from version 1.

Version 3: Pesto Donut

You'll need:

  • 3 oz parsley, chopped up
  • 1 oz roasted pistachio nuts
  • 3 fl oz olive oil
  • 2 oz grated parmesan
  • salt & pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 9 oz cooked spaghetti

Here's how:

1. Add the parsley, pistachio nuts, oil, and parmesan to a tall container. After seasoning with salt and pepper, puree everything until you have a smooth mixture.

Spoon the pesto onto the cooked spaghetti and break an egg into the bowl. Season everything again with salt and pepper.

2. Follow Steps 2 and 3 from version 1.

Tip: Grate some more parmesan onto your finished donuts.

Each one of these versions is a classic from traditional Italian cuisine, but that doesn't stop you from experimenting with other flavor combinations. Like their sugary cousins, these delightful pasta donuts will be gobbled up in no time!
