Zebra Christmas Cake

Want to amaze your guests this Christmas with a true showstopper of a dessert? Look no further than this festive red and green cake! A peaceful winter scene, complete with a whole field of brightly decorated Christmas trees on top of a delectable cake – it's the perfect dessert for you to try out this holiday season!

You'll Need:

For the zebra cake:

  • 5 eggs
  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1¼ cups sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • ½ cup water
  • red & green food coloring

For the frosting:

  • 8 oz marzipan
  • 16 oz cream cheese

For the Christmas trees:

  • tempered white chocolate
  • red & blue food coloring
  • Pocky sticks
  • sugar pearls & sprinkles

Here's How:

1. Separate the eggs and beat the egg whites until stiff. Add sugar and vanilla extract to the egg yolks and stir them until you have a creamy mixture. Bit by bit, add cooking oil, water, flour, and baking powder. Carefully fold in the egg whites so that you have a frothy batter.

2. Divide the cake batter between 2 bowls. Use red food coloring to color the cake batter in 1 bowl and green food coloring to color the cake batter in the other and mix both well.

3. Grease and flour a round cake pan and alternate between pouring in the green and red batter. Make sure you always pour into the center.

4. Transfer the pan to a preheated oven and cook at 350°F for 1 hour. Combine the marzipan and cream cheese to create a smooth frosting. Cut the cooled cake horizontally into 2 pieces and cover the first half with a thick layer of frosting.

5. Place the second half on top and coat the entire cake with frosting.

6. Temper the white chocolate over a water bath and mix in the food coloring until the chocolate turns neon green. Fill a piping bag with the chocolate. Sketch a tree on a piece of paper, place a sheet of plastic on top, and get to the real work. A Pocky stick forms the stump, pipe the tree on top of it, and decorate with sugar pearls and sprinkles.

7. Let the trees cool before carefully removing them from the plastic. Stick the trees into the cake and sprinkle powdered sugar on top.

8. A true beauty from the outside, the cake reveals its magic once you cut into it.

Wow, what a great Christmas cake! Give it a try and let us know what you think.
