24 Dessert Tricks That Only Pastry Chefs Know

Sometimes, a cake shouldn’t just taste fantastic, but also look great. For example, when we want to surprise someone with it for their birthday. This zebra cheesecake will definitely elicit an amazed “Oh” from the surprised person and make their eyes light up. What looks like we’ve been slaving away in the kitchen for hours actually doesn’t require much baking experience. This easy cake is even achievable for newbies in the bakehouse.

Zebra Cheesecake Recipe: A Visual and Culinary Highlight

Today we have a very special cake: a zebra cheesecake that’s not only convincing in taste. What looks like it came from the local pastry shop is actually homemade. How do you give the pastry that great pattern? Very simple:

We start with the dough, which is quickly mixed together from just a few ingredients. First, we combine quark, cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, salt, and vanilla pudding powder. Then we stir in a total of five eggs, one after the other.

Now we divide the dough for the zebra cheesecake in half. We stir some baking cocoa into one half, giving it a wonderfully dark color. After greasing a round springform pan and dusting it with flour, we alternately spread the light and dark dough in it until both are used up. Then we pull a fork through the layers.

Now the zebra cheesecake goes into the oven, where it bakes for about 45 minutes. When it comes out, we cut it—and lo and behold, the pretty pattern appears.
