These stuffed pizza pasta balls are the bomb!

Yield: 3
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

For the pizza dough:

  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the spaghetti & meat sauce:

  • ½ onion, diced
  • 1 carrot, grated
  • ¼ cup diced celery
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz ground Italian sausage
  • ¼ cup red wine
  • 8 oz crushed tomatoes
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 6 oz cooked spaghetti noodles

For the spaghetti pizza bombs:

  • 3 fresh mozzarella balls
  • spaghetti & meat sauce
  • pizza dough
  • 1 whisked egg for the egg wash
  • grated parmesan cheese

Instructions:

1. Combine the ingredients for the pizza dough, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour. Meanwhile, prepare the meat sauce. Sautée the onion, carrot, celery, and garlic in some olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the ground Italian sausage to the pan and brown the meat. Stir in the red wine and crushed tomatoes, season with salt and pepper, and bring to a simmer. Finally, stir in the cooked spaghetti noodles.

2. Cut a lid off the top of each fresh mozzarella ball, hollow out the insides, cut each hollowed-out mozzarella piece into 4 smaller pieces, and add the smaller pieces to the spaghetti & meat sauce in the pan. Use a fork to swirl some spaghetti noodles around a mozzarella piece, place it inside the hollowed-out mozzarella ball, and place the mozzarella lid back on top of the stuffed mozzarella ball. Repeat with the other 2 mozzarella balls.

3. Divide the pizza dough into 3 equal portions and roll them out into circles. Wrap a piece of pizza dough around each stuffed mozzarella ball, seal the dough edges, and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Brush the egg wash over each spaghetti pizza bomb and sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on top. Transfer the baking tray to the oven and cook at 350°F for 15 minutes.
