These potato smiles will have you smiling and drooling

Everyone loves small snacks every now and then, whether they are for a birthday celebration, a movie night at home or just as a side dish to your main meal. This recipe shows you a special kind of snack: delicious home-made potato smiles that are done in no time and are easy to make.

You'll need:

  • 3 starchy potatoes
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp. of starch
  • 3 tbsp. of breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp. of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. of pepper
  • 1/4 cup of flour

And here's what you do:

To start off, all you have to do is peel three starchy potatoes, divide them into quarters and then cook them in boiling water until they turn soft.

Pour them into a bowl and squish them with a fork.

Now just add the starch, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, egg and the flour and mix everything thoroughly.

Next, roll out the potatoes so that you can cut a smile into them: For this, you'll need a piece of parchment paper sprinkled with flour.

Lay the potato mixture on top and sprinkle it with flour again. Then place a sheet of parchment paper on top and roll out the mixture between the parchment paper using a rolling pin. This way nothing gets sticky.

Once the mixture is nice and flat, cut out round slices using a cookie cutter, a glass or a cup.

The only thing missing now is the smiley face, which is the easiest part. You can cut out the eyes easily with a straw and you can make the mouth with the round edge of a spoon.

Now it's time to fry the tasty little treats: Drop them into hot oil until they turn nice and golden brown. And you're done!

A delicious small snack that's great for kids or as a fun surprise for adults.
