Ham And Cheese Potato Nests
Pleasantly warm, soft, and encircled by a protective wall: that's exactly how a nest should be. However, today we're not building a new home for baby birds, but looking at a new way to enjoy cheese and ham!
You'll Need (for 6):
- 1 lb potatoes
- 1 egg
- 2 oz butter
- 2oz grated parmesan
- salt & pepper to taste
- 4 oz Swiss cheese, cubed
- 3 oz bacon, cubed
- Peel and cook the potatoes. As soon as they are done, mash them as finely as possible with a fork.
- Add the egg, butter, half the parmesan and a good pinch of salt and pepper to the mashed potatoes and fold all the ingredients in. Then transfer the mixture to a piping bag with a star-shaped nozzle.
- Starting from the middle, pipe the potato mixture into circles about 3 inches wide on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Then add to rings of potato around the edges of the circles, forming a hollow inside.
- Cut the cheese and bacon into cubes and use them to fill the nests. To finish, sprinkle the rest of the parmesan over the six nests and then bake them for 20 minutes at 375°F.
Of course, you can prepare these hearty cheese nests with a different filling – let your inventiveness know no bounds, and above all, enjoy!
