Double Stuffed Oreo Churros

Oreos have been around forever and they're still as popular as ever – now that's a culinary success story if we've ever heard one! Another sweet treat that everyone's crazy about are churros, the fried Spanish pastries usually served with a cinnamon sugar coating. So we thought to ourselves, what if we bring these delicious worlds together and make them collide? That's exactly what's happening in this recipe: homemade churros fried to perfection, then covered in an Oreo sugar coating and double stuffed with whipped Oreo cream filling! It's basically 2 of the most delicious treats of all time, combined to make the perfect dessert hybrid!

Yield: 4
Prep Time: 90 minutes
Cooking Time: 3 minutes
Difficulty Level: Moderate

You'll Need:

For the churros:

  • 1 cup water
  • ¾ stick butter
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • 1½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs

For the Oreo churro coating:

  • cookie crumbs from 20 Oreos
  • ½ cup sugar for the coating

For the Oreo cream filling:

  • ⅓ cup heavy cream
  • cream filling from 20 Oreos

Here's How:

1. Scrape the cream filling out of the Oreos, place in a bowl, and set aside for later.

2. For the Oreo churro coating, crush the cookie part of the Oreos, mix the crumbs with sugar, and set aside for later.

3. For the churro batter, bring the water, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt to a boil. Add the flour to a separate bowl, pour the heated mixture over it, and mix well. Once the mixture has cooled slightly, stir in the eggs.

4. Transfer the churro batter to a piping bag with a star-shaped nozzle, pipe flat swirls onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper, and freeze for about 1 hour.

5. Heat some frying oil to about 350°F and fry the frozen churros for about 3 minutes each. Once they're done frying, roll the warm, fried churros in the Oreo churro coating from earlier.

6. For the Oreo cream filling, whip the heavy cream with the Oreo cream filling you removed earlier. Using a piping bag or a spoon, spread the creamy filling over half of the cooled Oreo churros. Assemble the double stuffed Oreo churros by placing a second Oreo churro on top to make multiple dessert sandwiches.

If you love churros and and if you love Oreos, this recipe is a dream come true! These double stuffed delights are truly the ultimate dessert hybrid. Double the dessert and double the filling – they're double the delicious factor in every way imaginable!
