Our orange-cola float is here for those days when the heat is something that needs to be beat! With a powerful mix of flavors and a delectable whipped topping, this drink is the perfect refreshment. Fantastically cool and flavorful, discover the recipe below.

Our Orange-Cola Float: Here’s How to Cool Down

You may have seen the viral float being passed along from a certain famous homemake this summer. We’re taking some inspiration from her with our orange-cola float, especially with her suggestion of making icecubes with the float’s main ingredient. That means that even as the sun beats over-head and your float melts, the flavor won’t be watered down at all. Much like a wine, this drink gets better with age! Or temperature at least.

Really, this float takes inspiration from a few different sources. Orange soda and cola are both beloved summer flavours, often featured in drinks like dreamsicle milkshakes, Coke slushies, dirty sodas, and classic ice cream floats. This recipe decidedly fuses the two into one glass. We think the citrusy brightness of the orange balances beautifully against Coca-Cola’s rich, vanilla-caramel notes.

The proverbial cherry on top of our orange-cola float is its Cool Whip–inspired topping. A touch heavier than classic whipped cream, this whipped mixture is both rich, airy, and light enough to melt in your mouth. A few tablespoons of powdered sugar make the cream not only silky-smooth but delightfully sweet. A splash of vanilla extract lifts the flavours, enhancing both the citrusy brightness of the orange soda and the mellow undertones of cola. Once that and the ice cubes are ready, your float is as good as done. Simply fill each glass with Coca-Cola ice cubes and then equal parts orange soda and Coca Cola. Then mix equal parts of both sodas and top with the cream. If you’d so like, add orange zest or a literal cherry on top. Enjoy!
