Cheesy Lasagna Baguette Filled With Meat Sauce

There aren't many people out there who don't love a good lasagna, so we're kicking it up a notch. In addition to being super easy to prepare, our rather innovative take on this Italian classic is great way to impress guests at your next dinner party!

Yield: 1
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes

You'll Need:

For the lasagna baguette:

  • 1 wide rustic baguette
  • garlic herb oil
  • 6 cooked lasagna noodles, divided
  • meat sauce, divided
  • ⅔ cup béchamel sauce, divided
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella, divided

For the garlic herb oil:

  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley

For the meat sauce:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 12 oz ground beef
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • ¾ cup tomato sauce

Here's How:

  1. Make a deep rectangular cut all the way around the top of the baguette and hollow out the inside of the bread loaf.
  2. For the garlic herb oil, combine the olive oil, garlic, and parsley and spread the mixture over the inside of the hollowed-out baguette.
  3. Boil the lasagna noodles in lightly salted water. Cut the cooked noodles in half lengthwise and place 3 strips on the bottom of the hollowed-out baguette.
  4. For the meat sauce, heat some olive oil in a pan over medium heat and sweat the onions. Brown the ground beef and stir in the paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and tomato sauce.
  5. Spread a layer of meat sauce over the lasagna noodles in the baguette, followed by a layer of bechamel sauce and a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese. Place the remaining lasagna noodles on top and add another layer of meat sauce, another layer of bechamel sauce, and another layer of shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Transfer the lasagna baguette to a preheated oven and cook at 375°F for 25 minutes.

Once it's cut into slices, you don't even need a fork and knife to enjoy your delicious baguette, making it the perfect finger food for any party. Though it comes in a slightly different form, our creative lasagna tastes just as buonissimo as a traditional one!
