Hot Dog Pizza Snacks Are Chock Full Of Zesty Flavor

Mixing two snack food classics can be a bit risky, but when it's done right it can result in an unforgettable flavor explosion. Take this next recipe for example: we took a good old-fashioned hot dog and combined it with delicious pizza. The result? A zesty, hearty snack that will keep your family and friends coming back for more.

You'll Need (for 4):

  • vegetable oil
  • 1/2 of a green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion
  • 14 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • pepper
  • 1 package pizza dough
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 5 oz cheddar cheese cut into finger-sized pieces

Here's How:

Heat the oil in a pan and fry the green pepper lightly. Add the onion and tomato sauce. Season with rosemary, garlic, sugar, salt and pepper. Let the sauce simmer.

Pour the sauce into a casserole dish.

Cut the pizza dough in a zig-zag fashion to create four triangles. Remove the outer two triangles.

Now lay a hot dog at the bottom of each triangle and put a piece of cheese in front and behind it.

Roll the dough up to the pointy end of the triangle. It should look a bit like a croissant.

Put the hot dog rolls in the sauce in the casserole dish. Bake at 350 °F for 15 minutes.

We called it a snack, but as you can see what you end up with is more like a meal. So if you're tired of plain old hot dogs and pizza, try this unique fusion of flavors to give your taste buds a wakeup call!
