Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

For the shakshuka:

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 chili pepper, sliced
  • 2 green bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 28 oz diced tomatoes
  • 4 eggs
  • 3-4 oz crumbled feta cheese
  • parsley to garnish

For the pita bread:

  • ⅔ cup warm water
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 2¼ cups flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil

Instructions:

1. For the pita bread, combine the water, dry yeast, and sugar and then mix in the flour, salt, and vegetable oil. Knead the mixture into a smooth dough and let rise covered in a warm place for 1 hour. After 1 hour, divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll out each piece of dough until it's very thin and place the dough pieces on a baking tray. Transfer the baking tray to a preheated oven and cook at 450°F for 3-4 minutes.

2. For the shakshuka, heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat and briefly sauté the onion, garlic, and chili pepper. Add the bell peppers to the pan and cook with the rest of the ingredients until browned.

3. Add the ground cumin, paprika, and diced tomatoes to the pan and mix well to combine with the vegetables. Cover the pan with a lid and let cook for 20 minutes.

4. Crack the eggs into separate quadrants in the pan, cover the pan with a lid, and let simmer over medium heat until the eggs have set.

5. Crumble feta cheese over the dish and garnish with parsley. Serve the shakshuka with the homemade pita bread.

No hassle, barely any dishes, and incredibly delicious – we're sure shakshuka is about to become one of your weekly staples. Great for brunch, lunch, or even dinner, this well-balanced meal has truly got it all!
