Fresh Cocktail Enjoyment: How Delicious Is Our Green Margarita?!
The history of the margarita begins in the 1930s in Mexico, a country whose cuisine precedes itself. Of course, one of the most famous and beloved cornerstones is none other than tequila, which is derived from the country’s agave plant. But, what’s the story behind one of the most iconic tequila cocktails, the margarita, exaclty? The name margarita translates to “daisy” and symbolically represents the lightness and carefree spirit that this drink exudes. Traditionally prepared, a classic margarita combines tequila with lime juice and triple sec. Our green margarita recipe by adding cucumber, jalapeños, and chili to the (margarita) mix. Make sure to also have Cointreau on hand, an orange-flavored liqueur.
To make our green margarita, start by slicing half of the cucumber. Add it, along with cilantro, mint, kiwis, and jalapeños, to a blender. Once blended, strain the juice through a sieve and briefly refrigerate. Wash the lime thoroughly. Slice one half into thin rounds and juice the other half.
In a small bowl, mix together the salt and chili powder, then spread the mixture onto a flat plate. Rub the rims of the glasses with lime juice and dip them into the salt mixture to coat. Set aside to let the rims dry.
Place the remaining lime and cucumber slices into each margarita glass and gently muddle them. Mix the juice, tequila, and Cointreau well and then divide between the four glasses. Add a few ice cubes, then garnish with fresh mint and additional cucumber slices.
Whether for a party or as the perfect end to a beautiful day, our green margarita will add a pleasantly spicy cap to the whole affair.
