Homemade Christmas Stollen – Traditional German Fruitcake

You'll Need:

For the fruitcake:

  • 4 cups + 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • 1½ oz fresh yeast
  • 2¼ sticks sweet cream butter, room temperature
  • ⅓ cup superfine sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • zest from 1 lemon
  • 2 cups raisins
  • ⅓ cup rum
  • ½ cup chopped almonds
  • ¼ cup candied lemon peel
  • 2 tbsp candied orange peel

To garnish:

  • ½ stick sweet cream butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1⅔ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp corn starch
