From Churros To Pancakes: 3 Of The Best Fried Desserts

We all need to treat ourselves from time to time, which is why today's recipes showcase some of the best fried desserts out there. Our chefs have been getting inventive the last few days to come up with the following inspired selection. Churros and mini pancakes are well-known classics, but have you ever tried deep-frying ice cream? It's time to give it a go...

1. Churros

You'll Need:

  • 8 fl oz water
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 8 oz flour
  • 2 eggs

You'll also need:

  • plastic bottle
  • felt pen
  • freezer bag

Here's How:

1.1 First, you'll need to make your piping bag and nozzle. To do so, cut a plastic bottle in two and take the top half. Use a felt pen to draw a star on the lid and cut it out using a knife.

1.2 Next, cut the corner of a freezer bag and insert the the bottle through it. Place the DIY piping bag in a glass with the lid facing downwards.

1.3 It's now time to prepare the batter. First boil the water with butter and sugar. Add a pinch of salt and the flour to the mixture. Stir the batter until it loosens from the edge of the pan. Transfer the batter to a bowl, leave it to cool and add the eggs to it.

1.4 Fill the piping bag with batter.

1.5 Heat oil in a pan and pipe equally-sized "sausages" into it once hot. Thanks to the star in the lid, the batter will take on the typical churro shape. Turn the finished churros in sugar. Serve with a tasty chocolate sauce.

2. Fried Mini Pancakes

You'll Need:

  • 6 oz flour
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 10 fl oz milk

Here's How:

2.1 Mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl. Add the batter to a bottle; the best option would be a plastic ketchup bottle.

2.2 Heat up some oil in a pan and place a metal Mason jar lid in the center. Pipe some of the batter into the lid and flip it over with some tongs.

2.3 Fry the mini pancakes on each side for about one minute. Repeat this process until you have as many pancakes as you need. Garnish them with some fruit and a little syrup.

3. Deep-Fried Ice Cream

You'll Need:

  • vanilla ice cream
  • 12 slices of wholegrain bread
  • 3 oz sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • chocolate sauce
  • roasted almonds

Here's How:

3.1 Remove the crusts from 12 slices of wholegrain bread and roll them out.

3.2 Place 6 scoops of vanilla ice cream on a tray and freeze them until they are solid.

3.3 Place a scoop of ice cream between two slices of bread and carefully form a ball. Repeat five more times. Freeze these balls again until they are solid.

3.4 Deep fry the ice cream balls in hot oil for a maximum of 20 seconds. Let the oil drip off.

3.5 Turn the balls in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Garnish the deep fried ice cream balls with fresh fruit, chocolate sauce and roasted almonds.

After giving these delicious dishes a try, you'll no longer be able to enjoy desserts that aren't fried! Don't worry — we feel your pain...
