For example, if you're watching a rom-com, you probably want something sweet & chocolatey by your side, for an action film you're going to need something with a kick, and an independent film calls for something creative to munch on. Since salt & butter has been done to death, we're going to show you even better ways to serve your favorite movie snack. From refreshing chocolate mint and sweet Snickers to our inventive honey lavender and balsamic rosemary flavors, these 6 recipes put the POP in popcorn!
1. Currywurst Popcorn
Yield: 4 servings
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Difficulty Level: Easy
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 sausage, sliced
- ⅓ cup popcorn kernels
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 2 tbsp curry powder
Instructions:
Pour the vegetable oil into a pan over medium heat and let it warm up. Add the sausage slices to the pan and fry them in the vegetable oil. Add the popcorn kernels and ketchup to the pan, mix to combine, cover with a lid, and wait for the popcorn kernels to finish popping. Mix once more to combine, pour the popcorn into a bowl, and garnish with curry powder and more ketchup before serving.
2. Honey Lavender Popcorn
Yield: 4 servings
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Difficulty Level: Easy
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp honey
- ⅓ cup popcorn kernels
- 1 dash of vegetable oil
- 2 oz Manchego cheese
- 2 sprigs of lavender
Instructions:
Pour the honey, popcorn kernels, and dash of vegetable oil into an oven-safe glass measuring cup. Place a handheld, oven-safe mesh sieve over the opening of the glass measuring cup, grate the Manchego cheese into the sieve, and use a small glass bowl to push the grated cheese into the sieve. Transfer the measuring cup with the sieve to a preheated oven and cook at 425°F for 15 minutes. Carefully remove the hardened cheese "bowl" from the sieve, pour the popcorn into it, and garnish with lavender before serving.
3. Chocolate Mint Popcorn

Ingredients:
- 12 pieces of peppermint hard candy
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 oz dark chocolate shavings
- ⅓ cup popcorn kernels
- fresh mint to garnish
Instructions:
Melt the peppermint hard candy in a pan over medium heat. Add the vegetable oil, chocolate shavings, and popcorn kernels to the pan, mix to combine, cover with a lid, and wait for the popcorn kernels to finish popping. Mix once more to combine, pour the popcorn into a bowl, and garnish with fresh mint and more chocolate shavings before serving.
4. Snickers Popcorn

Ingredients:
- 3 Snickers bars
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- ⅓ cup popcorn kernels
- caramel sauce & peanuts to garnish
Instructions:
Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and lightly melt the Snickers bars. Add the popcorn kernels to the pan, mix to combine, cover with a lid, and wait for the popcorn kernels to finish popping. Mix once more to combine, pour the popcorn into a bowl, and garnish with caramel sauce and peanuts before serving.
5. Balsamic Rosemary Popcorn
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- ½ head of garlic
- 3 sprigs of rosemary
- ⅓ cup popcorn kernels
- 3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- sea salt & rosemary to garnish
Instructions:
Pour the vegetable oil into a pan over medium heat. Add the garlic, rosemary, popcorn kernels, and balsamic vinegar to the pan, mix to combine, cover with a lid, and wait for the popcorn kernels to finish popping. Remove the garlic bulb and rosemary sprigs from the pan and mix once more to combine. Pour the popcorn into a bowl and garnish with sea salt and rosemary before serving.
6. Rainbow Popcorn
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients:
- ⅓ cup jelly beans
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- ⅓ cup popcorn kernels
Instructions:
Heat the vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and lightly melt the jelly beans in the pan. Add the popcorn kernels to the pan, cover with a lid, and wait for the popcorn kernels to finish popping. Mix to combine and pour the colorful rainbow popcorn into a bowl before serving.
