Chocolate Banana Mole Cake

For the chocolate cake:

  • 1¾ sticks butter, softened
  • 1¼ cups sugar
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 4 eggs
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp baking powder

For the whipped cream frosting:

  • 1⅔ cups heavy cream
  • ½ cup chocolate flakes
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the banana filling:

  • 3 bananas


1. For the chocolate cake batter, combine the softened butter, sugar, flour, eggs, cocoa powder, and baking powder with a hand mixer until smooth. Pour the cake batter into a greased springform cake pan and smooth out the top. Transfer the cake pan to a preheated oven and cook at 325°F for 1 hour.

2. For the whipped cream frosting, whip the heavy cream until stiff and then fold in the chocolate flakes and vanilla extract.

3. For the banana filling, hollow out the inside of the cake and set aside for later. Cut the bananas in half lengthwise, place them in the cake well, and spread the whipped cream frosting on top.

4. Crumble the chocolate cake that you set aside earlier over the whipped cream frosting and dust the top of the cake with cocoa powder.
