Ooey Gooey Caramel Pecan Sticky Buns

Baked goods are a vital and under-appreciated part of everyday life. They pick you up when you're down, they can help you start your day off on the right track, they can leave your tummy feeling oh-so-happy... in short, baked goods are a comforting sweet treat that will always brighten your day. Sticky buns in particular have that ability, what with their fluffy dough, sweet cinnamon sugar filling, and rich caramel pecan sauce. Lucky for you, we've created the ultimate sticky buns – one bite of these and all your worries will melt away!

You'll Need (for 6):

For the dough:

  • 1 tbsp dry yeast
  • ½ cup milk, lukewarm
  • 2 eggs
  • 3½ tbsp sugar
  • ¼ stick butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups flour

For the filling:

  • ¼ stick butter, melted
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp pinch nutmeg

For the caramel pecan sauce:

  • 1 stick butter
  • ⅔ cup brown sugar
  • 2½ tbsp honey
  • 1¼ cups chopped pecans

Here's How:

1. First prepare the dough. Mix the dry yeast and milk in a bowl and add in the eggs, sugar, butter, salt, and flour. Knead everything until a smooth dough starts to form. Cover the dough and let it rise for about 60-90 minutes.

2. In the meantime, get started on the caramel pecan sauce. Add the butter, brown sugar, and honey to a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour the liquid caramel into a casserole dish and cover with chopped pecans.

3. Roll the dough out on a floured work surface to about 14 x 16 inches. Brush the melted butter over the dough and sprinkle the brown sugar-cinnamon-nutmeg mixture on top.

4. Roll up the dough and cut off the end pieces. Cut the rest into 6 equal pieces (about 2½ inches thick).

5. Place the buns on top of the chopped pecans in the casserole dish. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and let the sticky buns rise for about 30 minutes. Afterwards, transfer the pan to a preheated oven set to 350°F and bake for 10 minutes. Let everything cool down for about 10 minutes and then flip the dish over onto a serving platter so that the nuts are on top.

These sticky buns are a revelation, folks! That caramel sauce clinging onto every last corner of the bun, those crunchy pecans, that sweet, sweet filling – yes, please! This recipe for the ultimate ooey gooey sticky buns is sure to blow your mind!
