Bread Noodles And Bread Chips

Do you ever find yourself with a bunch of forgotten bread that, over time, has gotten hard as a rock? There are only so many times that you can make bread crumbs or croutons out of it. But don't worry, there's no need to throw it out! There are plenty of other amazing ways to transform stale bread into a something new, like these delicious bread noodles or our crispy, crunchy bread chips, perfect for scooping up you favorite dip. What great ways to save money and reduce food waste! 

1. Bread Noodles

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes
Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 5 oz stale bread
  • ¾ cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • salt to taste
  • tomato sauce, parmesan cheese & basil to serve

Instructions:

Place the stale bread in a food processor or blender and grind it down into a coarse flour. Combine the bread flour, regular flour, egg, olive oil, and salt and knead into a smooth dough. Cover the dough ball with a cloth and let rise in the fridge for 30 minutes. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured work surface and cut it into thin, narrow strips. Bring some salted water in a large pot to a boil and cook the bread noodles in the water for 5 minutes. Garnish the bread noodles with tomato sauce, parmesan, and fresh basil before serving.

2. Bread Chips

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Difficulty Level: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz leftover bread
  • ⅔ cup olive oil
  • 2 tsp curry powder + 1 tsp salt for the curry seasoning
  • 2 tsp paprika + 1 tsp salt for the paprika seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder + dried herbs for the garlic seasoning

Instructions:

Slice the stale bread into very thin pieces, spread them out on a baking tray, drizzle the olive oil over them, and mix well to coat all of the bread pieces. Transfer the baking tray to a preheated oven and cook at 350°F for 10 minutes. Prepare the curry seasoning, paprika seasoning, and garlic seasoning in 3 separate large bowls. Add ⅓ of the roasted bread chips to each bowl and toss to coat.
