Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips: A Simple Recipe
Hardly any pastry combines enjoyment and breakfast as effortlessly as banana bread. The moist bread smells wonderful while baking and immediately puts you in a good mood. A bonus: You don’t need any elaborate techniques or expensive ingredients. Banana bread is the definition of beginner-friendly baking.
Banana bread has its roots here in the States and first appeared in cookbooks in the 1930s. Overripe bananas, which would otherwise have ended up in the trash, were baked into a sweet bread by creative and frugal housewives. It didn’t hurt that over-ripe bananas are incredibly sweet and delicious when baked, which has given banana bread a specific kind of staying power. Nowadays, it is one of the most popular quick cake recipes and internationally loved. Of course, there have been a few tweaks here and there. Like with our recipe, we added chocolate chips for a little extra something-something.
For this banana bread with chocolate chips, you only need a few ingredients: ripe bananas, flour, eggs, oil, sugar, baking powder and a pinch of salt. The special twist comes from the chocolate. Whether finely chopped, chips, or chunks, each will bring their own flair to the bread. As the chocolate melts, it will create delicious pockets of chocolate in each slice. If you like, you can also add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract, both will pair perfectly with the aromas of the banana.
Once you slice it, you’ll know that our banana bread with chocolate chips recipe is a real winner. Enjoy!
