Bacon Cheeseburger Dog: Burger Vs. Hot Dog In The Ultimate Showdown

Hamburger, cheeseburger, Juicy Lucy, bacon dog, hot dog — what do all these things have in common? Besides being unbelievably delicious, they are all featured in today's recipe! We figured why not take the best that American fast food has to offer and combine it all in one tasty dish? Cookout food has never looked so good.

You'll need (for 4):

For the burger roll:

  • 10 oz cheddar cheese
  • 16 oz ground meat
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 8 bacon slices
  • oil for cooking

For the burger dog:

  • 4 hot dog buns
  • hot dog relish
  • caramelized onions
  • 4 tbsp mustard
  • 4 tbsp ketchup

Here's how:

1. Cut the cheddar cheese into 4 thick, even strips. Season the ground meat with salt, pepper, and garlic, and thoroughly knead with your hands.

2. Take a ¼ portion of the meat and form a square patty. Place a cheese strip on one end of the patty and roll it up, making sure to carefully seal the burger roll. Now place two pieces of bacon next to each other, place the burger roll on one end, and roll up the entire thing. Repeat the process with the remaining three portions of ground meat.

3. Fry the burger rolls in plenty of oil until golden brown and then place each burger dog in a hot dog bun.

4. Top the bacon-wrapped, cheese-stuffed burger dog with ketchup, mustard, hot dog relish, and caramelized onions and enjoy!

While hot dogs are always a winner, this hybrid treat is extra special: thanks to the bacon shell and cheese core, your dinner guests will not only enjoy a nice surprise, but they'll also be delighted by the clever use of homemade ingredients!
