Apple Raisin Casserole With A Creamy Porridge Filling

Whether you prefer sweet, sour, or sweet and sour, apples are not only a healthy snack for when you're on the go, but they're also perfect in any dessert. And when combined with cinnamon, sugar, raisins, and a creamy porridge, nobody will be able to resist!

You'll Need:

  • 2 lbs apples
  • 1 tbsp white wine
  • ½ lemon
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • ⅓ cup raisins

For the porridge:

  • 1 quart milk
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 6 oz cream of wheat
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 tbsp cream

Extra:

  • cinnamon & sugar

Here's How:

1. Preheat oven to 340°F. Wash and core the apples and cut them into thin slices. Set aside one handful of the apple slices and mix the remainder with white wine, the juice of half a lemon, sugar, and raisins.

2. For the porridge, heat the milk in a pot over medium heat and add the salt, butter, sugar, vanilla extract, and cream of wheat, stirring constantly so that the milk doesn't curdle. Bring the porridge to a boil, let cook for about 5 minutes, remove the pot from heat, and let cool.

3. Beat the egg whites until stiff and stir the egg yolks into the cream. Mix the egg yolk cream mixture into the porridge and then add the stiff egg whites.

4. Gently fold the apple slices that were set aside into the porridge and pour the mixture into a greased casserole dish. Spread the remaining apple slices on top.

5. Bake for 40 minutes and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top after removing from the oven.

This dessert will fill your home with a wonderful smell that's sure to awaken your taste buds — apples, raisins, cinnamon, and sugar is a combination that just can't be beat!
