Ingredients
  

For the dough:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • cup butter softened
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 4 eggs

For the topping:

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • cups sliced almonds
  • ¾ cup butter melted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the eggs, sugar, and softened butter using a hand mixer. Gradually add the flour and baking powder, mixing with a spoon or whisk. Stir in the heavy cream until a smooth dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough evenly on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, cream together the melted butter with sugar, and almonds in a bowl. After the initial 15 minutes of baking, pour this mixture over the crust and bake for another 15 minutes. Let the cake cool slightly before serving with whipped cream.
