Okay, we admit, there’s a sense that our Fanta waffles may be gilding the lily. But we say, that this recipe is a celebration of childlike joy and the maximalist credo that more is, sometimes, more. Plus, there’s a certain ingeniousness to these waffles. The orange soda adds brightness and extra fluff, and who doesn’t love fluffy waffles?

Our Fanta cake waffles also only require a few ingredients that are easy to find in most kitchens. With a waffle iron and a handful of basic ingredients, you can prepare a delicious and original treat in no time that will delight friends and family.

If you’re making these waffles for younger guests, bring them in on the fun! The little ones can, for example, measure the orange soda, mix the batter, bake the waffles or prepare the orange powdered sugar glaze. It is all, after all, in good fun.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 eggs
  • cups sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • cup orange soda
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • colorful sprinkles and fresh berries for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, oil, and ½ cup of orange soda.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk until just combined.
  • Preheat your waffle iron and brush it with oil before each waffle. Pour ⅓ cup of batter onto the hot waffle iron and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown. Let the waffles cool on a wire rack.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and the remaining orange soda until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled waffles and garnish with sprinkles and fresh berries before serving.
