Easy Coffee Cake Base

You'll Need (for 1):

  • 3⅓ cups flour
  • ⅔ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • vegetable oil & butter for assembly
  • 1 gallon zipper storage bag

Here's How:

1. For the coffee cake batter, place all of the ingredients in the large zipper storage bag. Push as much air out of the bag as you can, then seal it. Knead the ingredients inside the sealed bag for 5 minutes until combined, then flatten out the batter and let it rise for 45 minutes.

2. Grease a 10 x 6-inch baking dish with butter. Take the batter out of the bag and use your hands to spread it around evenly inside the baking dish. Cover the baking dish and let the batter rise for 10 more minutes in a warm place, then preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a few of your fingers with vegetable oil and press them into the surface of the cake to make a series of indentations. Fill in the indentations with one of the topping combinations.
