3 Upgraded Toast Recipes

The great thing about toast is that it's the perfect vehicle for all kinds of flavor explosion. Toast is the no-nonsense staple that'll help take your food to the next level, but if you've been eating your toast as a flat piece of bread with some sad, clumpy butter smeared on top this whole time, then you haven't truly been living. You might even think, dare we say, that toast isn't worth the hype. Well, that's categorically wrong, and we have 3 easy and delicious recipes to prove it!

1. Cinnamon Rolls

You'll Need (for 6):

  • 15 slices of white bread
  • room temperature butter to brush on top
  • ¾ cup sugar + 1½ tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 whisked egg for the egg wash
  • icing to garnish

Here's How:

1.1 Preheat the oven to 350°F. Cut the crusts off the bread, lay 5 slices next to one another other so that the edges overlap, and use a rolling pin to slightly flatten the bread and create one joint piece. Repeat this with the rest of the bread until you have 3 long pieces.

1.2 Butter the bread and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture on top.

1.3 Roll up each long piece of bread and cut them in half horizontally (if the cinnamon rolls don't want to keep their shape, wrap them in plastic wrap and freeze for 30 minutes). Dip the cinnamon rolls in the egg wash and place them upright in a muffin pan, with one roll in each mold. Bake for 20 minutes and drizzle icing on top before serving.

2. Cheesy Bites

You'll Need:

  • 2 cups cheddar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tsp heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • slices of white bread

Here's How:

2.1 Preheat the oven to 375°F. Add the cheddar, butter, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, mustard, and chili powder to a bowl and mix until combined.

2.2 Spread the cheese mixture on a slice of bread and place another slice on top. Cut off the crust and cut the sandwich into 4 equal squares. Repeat with the rest of the bread and place the cheese bites on a sheet pan (make as many as will fit on your pan!), making sure to save some of the cheese mixture back for the next step.

2.3 Spread the rest of the cheese mixture on top of the cheese bites and bake for 15 minutes.

3. Fried Ham & Cheese Rolls

You'll Need (for 5):

  • 5 slices of white bread
  • 5 slices of ham
  • 5 slices of cheese
  • whisked eggs & panko bread crumbs for the breading
  • oil for frying
  • toothpicks

Here's How:

3.1 Use a rolling pin to flatten a slice of bread, top with a slice of ham and a slice of cheese, and cut off the crust.

3.2 Roll up the bread and secure it with 2-3 toothpicks. Repeat the process with the rest of the ingredients.

3.3 Dredge the ham & cheese rolls in the egg and panko bread crumbs and fry in hot oil until golden brown. Remove the toothpicks before serving.

You can never go wrong with a few slices of white bread, as these 3 mouthwatering recipes prove!
