3 Sweet Apple Desserts That You Need To Try

There are so many reasons to love apples. They're delicious, they're good for you, and they're available all year round. We'd be remiss not to mention all the incredible dessert creations that revolve around our favorite fruit. Apple pie, apple turnovers, candy apples – the list goes on and on. But to give you even more of a reason to love this fruit, we've got 3 creative apple recipes that you have to try, served with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or honey. Comfort food at its best!

1. Hasselback Apples

You'll Need (for 6):

  • 3 apples
  • melted butter & sugar to sprinkle on top
  • ¾ cup rolled oats + 1 tsp cinnamon
  • vanilla ice cream & caramel syrup to serve

Here's How:

1.1 Halve an apple and remove the core with a melon baller. Use a small knife to cut into the halved apples lengthwise and repeat the same process with the other apples.

1.2 Place the apples on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, brush melted butter over them, and sprinkle sugar on top. Transfer the pan to a preheated oven set to 350°F and bake for 20 minutes.

1.3 Mix the rolled oats and cinnamon with some more sugar and leftover melted butter.

1.4 Remove the baking tray from the oven, spoon the streusel mixture into the slits in the apples, put the baking tray back in the oven, and cook for another 10 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream and caramel syrup.

2. Blooming Apples

You'll Need (for 4):

  • 4 apples
  • ¼ cup melted butter
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 8 soft caramels
  • vanilla ice cream & caramel syrup to serve

Here's How:

2.1 Cut the top off the apples, remove the cores with a melon baller, and cut all around each apple with a small knife.

2.2 Place the apples on a cutting board with the cut surface facing down and slightly cut the skin all around.

2.3 Put 2 soft caramels in the center of each apple and place the apples in a deep pan.

2.4 Mix the melted butter, cinnamon, sugar, and brown sugar together and brush the mixture over the apples. Transfer the pan to a preheated oven set to 375°F and bake for 30 minutes. Serve with vanilla ice cream and caramel syrup.

3. Apple Wellingtons

You'll Need (for 4):

  • 1 apple
  • 4 tbsp pecans
  • 4 tbsp marzipan
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 whisked egg for the egg wash
  • honey to drizzle on top

Here's How:

3.1 Peel the apples, remove the cores, and cut the apples into 4 equally thick slices. Cut the sheet of puff pastry into 4 equal squares and place 1 tablespoon of pecans and 1 tablespoon of marzipan on each square.

3.2 Place 1 apple slice on each puff pastry square and fold them into small packets.

3.3 Place the pastry packets upside down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, make a few light incisions diagonally, and brush the egg wash over each packet. Bake the apples in a preheated oven set to 375°F for 10 minutes. Serve the apple wellingtons with honey.
