Spaghetti And Meatball Sandwich

As tasty as spaghetti and meatballs are, the chaotic way they spread all over the plate can be a real horror for true sticklers for order. But as the following recipe proves, it's possible to serve this dish in a much neater way with nice and orderly layers!

You'll Need:

  • 14 oz tomato sauce
  • 8 oz shredded mozzarella

For the meatballs:

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp majoram
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 5 tbsp bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • salt, pepper

For the pasta:

  • 3 eggs
  • 4 oz grated parmesan
  • 16 oz cooked spaghetti

Here's How:

  1. First prepare the meatballs: knead all the ingredients for this together in a bowl. Form all of the mixture into small meatballs and fry these in a pan until all sides are evenly cooked.
  2. Next prepare the spaghetti: beat 3 eggs together and stir in the parmesan. Pour this mixture over the cooked spaghetti and mix everything together well.
  3. Spread half of the spaghetti over the base of a circular baking pan. Add the meatballs on top, pour the tomato sauce over them, and sprinkle on the mozzarella. Last but not least, use the rest of the spaghetti for the final layer on top.
  4. Bake your Spaghetti & Meatball Sandwich at 350°F for 15 minutes. Once it's done, all you need to do is remove the baking pan and this practical culinary masterpiece is ready for serving.

The story goes that the sandwich was invented in the 18th century by the Earl of Sandwich because he wanted something to eat while he was playing cards — he probably never dreamt that a variation on his humble invention like this would exist one day!
