Skewered Meatballs With A Tasty Dip Make The Perfect Finger Food

Don't know what to do with that packet of ground beef at the back of your fridge? Well, we have the perfect solution for the next time you have friends over. Get dipping!

You'll Need (for 6):

For the meatballs:

  • 1½ lbs ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika

For the skewers:

  • 1 portion of puff pastry

For the tomato sauce:

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 diced onion
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped up
  • 10 fl oz pizza sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp mint, chopped
  • 1 tsp parsley, chopped

Here's how:

  1. Knead the seasoning and egg into the ground beef.
  2. Make at least 20 equally-sized meatballs from the seasoned ground beef (you'll need four meatballs for each skewer).
  3. Cut the rolled out puff pastry into six equally-sized strips.
  4. Now stick a skewer through one end of a puffy pastry strip and place a meatball on top. Then stick the skewer into the pastry once more so that half of the meatball is covered. Add another meatball and do the same as before until there are four meatballs on the skewer. The pastry should form a double S shape around the meatballs when you're finished.
  5. Now bake the skewers at 375°F for 10 minutes.
  6. To prepare the dip, heat the olive oil in a pot before frying the onions and garlic. After pouring in the pizza sauce, add the seasoning and herbs to the sauce. Allow the sauce to simmer until it thickens.

With a wonderful aroma and tasty tomato dip, these skewered meatballs make the perfect finger food that can be enjoyed hot or cold. So what are you waiting for — get those friends over for a movie night!
