Hawaiian Bacon Donuts – A Match Made In Heaven

Now we've all heard of Hawaiian pizza — the '60s invention exquisitely marries traditional savory flavors with sweetness from the fresh pineapple and a salty kick from the cured bacon or ham. But have you ever come across a Hawaiian donut before? Well, prepare to be amazed as this tasty treat also combines sweet and savory in perfect harmony. Go nuts for donuts!

You'll Need (for 5):

  • 1 yellow onion
  • 5 pineapple slices
  • 5 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 25 slices of bacon
  • 2 tbsp BBQ sauce

Here's How:

  1. Cut five large rings from the onion. Then make the holes in the pineapple rings larger using a knife. Use the pineapple rings as stencils to cut the slices of cheese into rings. Now add the onion rings for that crowning touch.
  2. Wrap each ring with five slices of bacon. Fry them in a pan and spread barbecue sauce on them.
  3. To finish, bake the rings at 320°F for 10 minutes in the oven.

Oh wow, those are some tasty donuts! With crispy bacon on the outside concealing the succulent pineapple underneath, it really is a heavenly combination of tastes and textures. Just be sure to make enough for all!
